Food Panda - Such Promise, Such Disappointment

I should have known better than to give Food Panda another shot. But what can I do? I hate making phone calls and ordering online is (theoretically) more convenient. But today's Food Panda episode may just be the last straw.

I've been sick the past few days and I was craving for some comfort food (aka fast food). I checked out my Food Panda app, and it gave me some selections which included Burger King. With my appetite on fire, I placed my order and waited for the usual confirmation. This is NOT the first time I had Burger King delivered to my place, so I wasn't expecting any issues.

A few minutes later, I received a text confirmation AND an email confirmation that my order has been processed. Hurray! I was really looking forward to that Bacon Whopper!

As luck would have it, I received a phone call from Food Panda saying my order can not be processed. When I asked why, they said Burger King "has their own delivery system" and that my area "is not within the usual delivery scope." I was perplexed, and told the lady this was not the first time they delivered. As a matter of fact, Burger King is but a few blocks away from our village.

I asked what Burger King branch refused delivery, and she could not give me a straight answer. She just mumbled about the branch being "somewhere in Metro Manila." WTF. I had to end the call then and there.

And then I got another email, saying my order was cancelled because my address could not be verified. This actually makes more sense, but could have easily been remedied in the phone conversation I had with the rep.

I take full accountability for this stressful situation. I should have known better than to succumb to the temptation of using this app again. I already deleted it from my phone before after a couple of terrible experiences. First, I tried to order from Mang Inasal (which is clearly still on the list), and received a similar "you live in the mountains so we can't deliver" response (there's a Mang Inasal branch right outside the village). I also ordered from Greenwich and tried to use a Food Panda voucher, only to be told that Greenwich does not honor the voucher.

I realize that the service could have limitations in certain areas of the metro. But this kind of "paasa" (for lack of a better term) is ridiculous. A long time ago, I liked this app. There were so much more restaurant options, and I remember getting food delivered from favorites like Mr Kabab. It had a lot of promise, and I even convinced friends to download it. Now, all I wanna do is to delete the app and never look back.
