Wangfu - A Surprising Turn Of Events

After leaving Ihop, I walked around the mall to check out what's new. Got a couple of new swimming shorts and socks from H&M, but didn't really see anything else to my liking. No new toys in my favorite shop, nothing interesting In the gadget store, the new Harry Potter book still not available in Fully Booked, and the barber was booked for the night. I decided it was time for dinner.

Wangfu, a Chinese restaurant, is apparently part owned by Sir Chief. But the main appeal to me was the fact that it is located in the middle of all the Pokemon action (sigh - it looks like this game has really taken over my life). And I heard they have good food, so it was worth a try.

To give the resto a fair review (since I only had space for one dish in my tummy), I asked the waitress for the house specialty. I was committed to order it - no matter what it was. She said "try the Salted Egg Fried Chicken," and there was no turning back. She recommended getting the Set, which comes with a drink and unlimited rice/soup.

To be honest, I was expecting dinner to suck a bit. Not really a fan of this "salted egg trend" that seems to have sprung up from out of nowhere. But boy was I in for a pleasant surprise.

The chicken tasted great - I didn't even ask for sauce anymore. Somehow, the saltiness of the egg matched the crisp coat of the chicken. The corn soup complemented the dish and the iced tea was, well, cold. I craved for more after each bite, until everything was gone.

I'm glad I ran into a waitress who knew her stuff and was confident in giving her suggestion. I hate it when I get the "everything in the menu tastes great" response.
